Florida Fishing Reports
Florida Fishing Report
Spring fishing in South Florida is heating up! April has brought warm water temps, increased bait movement, and some incredible inshore action in the Florida Keys, especially around Tavernier. With clearer flats and strong tides, anglers aboard Back Bone Charters are seeing excellent opportunities for sight-fishing. Bonefish are tailing on the flats in the early mornings and late afternoons—soft presentations and precise casting are key right now. Tarpon have started pushing into the backcountry channels and bridges, making for heart-pounding action during sunrise and sunset trips. Snook and Redfish are holding tight to mangrove edges and creek mouths, responding well to live bait and soft plastics. Spotted Seatrout are showing up in the grass flats, while Permit are beginning to make appearances near deeper flats and wreck edges. As always, wind and tide play a big role in daily success, but Captain Keith’s local expertise helps put anglers on the bite day after day. The fishing will only get better from here as we head deeper into the spring season.
We get these questions. What’s the best time of day to fish in April? Early mornings and late afternoons offer cooler water temps and the best chance for sight-fishing bonefish and tarpon. What species are biting most right now? Bonefish, Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, and Seatrout are all active. Permit are just starting to show up as well. Do I need to bring my own gear? Nope! Back Bone Charters provides all the rods, reels, and tackle you need for your inshore adventure—just bring sun protection and drinks.
